The Karawang Battery Manufacturing Plant is a crucial component of CATL's integrated industrial chain project in Indonesia. The entire Indonesian project (including mining, smelting, and material projects in North Maluku Province, as well as the battery plant in Karawang) involves a total investment of approximately $60 billion. The battery manufacturing facility serves as a key link in Indonesia's comprehensive battery and nickel resource industrial chain initiative (Dragon Project). This project holds significant importance for the new energy industry landscape in Indonesia and across Southeast Asia.
Phase I: 6.9 GWh, expected to commence operations by the end of 2026. The project will gradually expand its capacity to 15 GWh and plans to extend production lines for energy storage batteries. If approved, total capacity may increase to 40 GWh. Great Wall Steel serves as the primary supplier of steel reinforcement materials for the project.
